Team B, consisting of eight students, had eight weeks to familiarize themselves with the topic of artificial intelligence for the company Trendelkamp Technologie in Nordwalde and to develop an innovative solution for a knowledge management system together with this project partner. The AI assistant is intended to enable employees in the design department to simultaneously access internal company data and relevant information from the Internet. The aim is to bundle knowledge processes, shorten research times, and make daily work more efficient.
At the end of the project, the students successfully presented a functional prototype that clearly demonstrated how such AI can be implemented technically. This highlighted the potential – but also the limitations – of modern AI systems for industrial applications. The best prerequisites for high efficiency are well-maintained metadata and constant maintenance of the software system in order to stay up to date with advancing technical possibilities.
Although the AI system developed is still in its infancy and has its own character, it offers a promising basis. In the coming months, it will be further trained, refined, and adapted to the specific requirements of the company. The Smart Lab has thus not only produced a technical prototype, but also provided valuable impetus for future developments in the company!
